England is on top of the group on the basis of goal difference. The team that wins this match will strengthen its claim for the next round.
England won consecutively from India in the World Cup
India’s record against England in the World Cup is a matter of concern. India last defeated England in a World Cup match in 1994 in Sydney. After this, England won in 2002, 2006 and 2010. In 2014 also, England defeated India 2-1.
The two teams did not compete in 2018, whereas in the 2023 World Cup, the match was a 0-0 draw. India will aim to break this unwanted record.
India defeated Great Britain in Paris Olympics
Athletes from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland play in the Olympics under the name of Great Britain. India and Great Britain faced each other in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics 2024. India had to play with 10 players after Amit Rohidas got a red card in the 17th minute of the match.
Despite this, the Indian team put up a brilliant defense and held Great Britain to a 1-1 draw in the final time. Then India won 4-2 in the penalty shootout and made it to the semi-finals. India won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics.

Captain Harmanpreet scored 2 goals in the last match
Captain Harmanpreet Singh had performed brilliantly against Wales. He scored two goals from penalty corners. For India, Sanjay also scored a goal on a set piece. All three goals of the team came from penalty corners.
However, the team will have to improve finishing in open play. Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh created chances against Wales, but India could not score a field goal. It will be important to convert the chances into goals against a strong team like England.
