Current runner-up SRH will retain Australian all-rounder and franchise captain Pat Cummins as the second player (for Rs 18 crore) and Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma as the third player (for Rs 14 crore) in the retention list.

Rs 18 crore will be spent on retaining the first player, Rs 14 crore on the second player and Rs 11 crore on the third player. If only 3 players are retained then Rs 43 crore will be spent from the purse.
If teams retain the fourth player, they will have to pay him only Rs 18 crore. And Rs 14 crore will have to be spent for the fifth player. It will cost only Rs 4-4 crore to retain an uncapped player. The last date for submitting player retention is 31 October 2024 till 5 pm.
If teams retain 5 internationals and one uncapped player, then Rs 79 crore will be spent from their purse. If the teams retain 4 international and 2 uncapped players, then Rs 69 crore will be spent from the purse. If only 5 international players are retained then Rs 75 crore will be spent from the purse. Teams are allowed to divide the capped retention pot of Rs 75 crore among the five capped players as per their wish.
