Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired two ballistic missiles at the presidential palace in Aden, Yemen, on Friday. Four people had died in the attack here 15 days ago. The Houthis also sent a drone towards the Medina area of Saudi Arabia, which was shot down in the air by the Saudi-led military coalition.
According to a military spokesman for the Yemeni government, Houthi rebels also attacked Aden airport with ballistic missiles. However, it is not clear whether the missiles hit their target or not.
Officials have not reported any casualties or injuries in the attack. According to news agency AFP, an ambulance has been seen going to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Aden city, the main seat of the Yemeni government
Aden is the main seat of Yemen’s internationally recognized government. Houthi rebels captured the capital Sanaa in 2014, after which the government had to withdraw from there. Attacks have again intensified in Aden since July.
Earlier on October 28 also, Houthi rebels had targeted Aden Airport. Before the attack, the organization had warned people to vacate the area. This airport is an important way to deliver relief and humanitarian aid to southern Yemen.
Saudi claims to stop drone near Mecca also
The Saudi-led military coalition on Friday claimed to have shot down a drone over Medina. Earlier, the alliance had also talked about destroying a drone in Mecca.
Mecca has the Grand Mosque and Kaaba, while Medina has the Mosque of Prophet Mohammed. Both cities are among the most sacred religious sites of Muslims.
Saudi Arabia accused the Houthis of attacking an electricity distribution center in Medina in October. This center supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque. However, the Houthis rejected this allegation.
The Houthis deny targeting Mecca and Medina. They say that their attacks take place on Saudi Arabia’s military bases and oil-related facilities.
Yemen government fighting with the support of Saudi Arabia
There has been a long-running conflict between Houthi rebels and the government in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia supports Yemen’s internationally recognized government and provides air support to government forces fighting against the Houthis. At the same time, Iran has been accused of supporting Houthi rebels.
There is a possibility of further increase in conflict in Yemen due to the attack on Rashtrapati Bhavan complex. The Houthis have said their targets were targets linked to the Saudi military operation.

The war between Saudi and Houthis continues since 2015
- Houthis in Yemen captured the capital Sanaa in 2014. After this, in 2015, Saudi Arabia along with many countries started a military campaign against them.
- Saudi Arabia wanted the internationally recognized government of Yemen to come back to power and the occupation of the Houthis to end.
- After this, air strikes continued in Yemen for many years. But the Saudi coalition was not successful in pushing back the Houthis completely.
- The Houthis still maintain their hold over large parts of Yemen. Their fight is now affecting the security of Saudi Arabia as well.

Why is Saudi Arabia not able to defeat the Houthis?
Saudi Arabia has modern fighter aircraft and missiles. America also gives him weapons. Despite this, Saudi Arabia has not been able to win the ongoing war against the Houthis since 2015.
The Houthis still control large parts of Yemen and are carrying out drone-missile attacks on Saudi Arabia.
To stop the cheap drones and missiles of Houthis, Saudi Arabia has to fire expensive missiles. This increases his expenses.
Apart from this, the mountainous terrain of Yemen is also a big challenge. It is difficult to trace the hideouts of Houthis here. To remove them completely, a ground battle may have to be fought, which would involve the risk of soldiers being killed and the war prolonging.
