Actress Swara Bhaskar recently said that she was very sad after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case of 2019. Swara told that after the decision, she had apologized by messaging the Muslim contacts on her mobile.

Actually, in an interview given to The Midnight Hour, Swara Bhaskar and Fahad Ahmed talked about their love story. Their love story started with a protest, where both of them met for the first time.

After this, both of them started working together continuously on social and political issues. Swara told that she liked Fahadh’s way of working.

In the interview, Swara Bhaskar said, “And then the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi came. When the decision in this matter came. I think that was also a very big issue. I was very saddened by that decision. I was thinking what kind of country is this and how can such a decision come?”

She further added, “I was very upset with that decision, because I felt it was very wrong and unjust. So I messaged all my Muslim friends in my phone book. From Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman sir to Fahad Ahmed, I messaged everyone.”

The actress also said, “I was very sad and just wanted to get my message across to all Muslim people. I am a Hindu, but I wanted to tell them that I am really sorry about this. I feel embarrassed and I do not agree with this decision. This is my own opinion. However, some people replied that everything is fine and I do not need to send such a message.”

After this the conversation between Swara and Fahad increased further. Whenever there was any big issue in the country, both of them used to discuss it together.

Supreme Court’s decision came in 2019

In the Ayodhya land dispute, the Supreme Court, while giving its verdict in November 2019, had ordered to give the disputed 2.77 acres of land for the construction of Ram temple. Also, the Muslim side was instructed to give 5 acres of alternative land in Ayodhya itself.

There was a demand for contempt case against Swara Bhaskar

In the year 2020 also, actress Swara Bhaskar came into controversy regarding her comments on the Supreme Court’s decision in the Ayodhya Janmabhoomi case. In fact, on February 1, 2020, in a program of Mumbai Collective, Swara had raised questions on the Ayodhya decision.

He had said that the Supreme Court considered the demolition of Babri Masjid illegal, but in the same decision gave land to those who demolished the mosque. He had also said that the country has reached such a situation where questions are being raised about the faith in the Constitution of the courts.

Advocate Anuj Saxena had demanded initiation of criminal contempt proceedings against this statement of Swara. For this he asked the then Attorney General K.K. Approval was sought from Venugopal. The petition alleged that Swara’s remarks had damaged the reputation of the Supreme Court.

However, Attorney General K.K. Venugopal had refused to give approval in this matter. He had said that Swara’s first statement was his own perception. There was nothing in this to defame the institution of the Supreme Court or reduce its dignity.

He also described Swara’s second statement as general and vague. According to him, this statement was not against any particular court. Therefore it cannot be considered a case of criminal contempt.

After not getting permission from the Attorney General, the petitioners had also approached Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. He too had refused to give consent in this matter.
