The controversy between the American company Hindenburg and the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch is having a negative impact on the market. Today the Sensex is trading at the level of 79,450 with a fall of more than 200 points.
Nifty has also fallen by about 50 points. It is trading at the level of 24,300. Hindenburg has claimed in its report released on Saturday that Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhawal Buch have a stake in an offshore company associated with the Adani Group. Today, Adani Total Gas shares have fallen by more than 7%.
Mixed trading in Asian markets today
- There is mixed trading in the Asian market today. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 17,036 with a fall of 0.31%. China’s Shanghai Composite has fallen by 0.013% and Korea’s Kospi has gained 1.07%.
- On Friday, the Dow Jones of the US market rose 0.13% and closed at 39,497. The Nasdaq also rose 0.51% and closed at 16,745. The S&P500 closed at 5,344 with a gain of 0.47%.
- Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought shares worth ₹406.72 crore on August 9. During this period, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also bought shares worth ₹3,979.59 crore. That is, foreign investors made purchases on the last day of last week.
