US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has admitted that she and her agency failed to do their job properly. On July 13, there was a deadly attack on former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump. Since this attack, the Secret Service has been accused of not performing its responsibilities properly.

In this connection, Secret Service Director Cheatle appeared before the Parliament on Monday. Cheatle told the Congress that as the Director of the Secret Service, she is taking full responsibility for the security lapse. During this, Cheatle also said that she also has a shortage of staff.

Kimberly Cheatle is the 27th and second female director of the Secret Service.

Cheetal said- our agents were not there where the bullet was fired
Cheatle said that the attack on Trump on July 13 is the biggest failure of the Secret Service in recent decades. The warehouse from whose roof the attacker fired at Trump was not included in the security zone by the Secret Service. This warehouse was just 400 feet away from Trump’s stage.

Cheatle did not say anything when asked why Secret Service agents were not deployed there. Cheatle declined to give further information, citing the ongoing investigation.

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and other Republicans asked why there were no security personnel on the roof from where the shots were fired. Cheatle did not give a clear answer to this. Cheatle said that he believed that the necessary agents were deployed to protect Trump on the day of the attack.

Cheatle admitted that the gunman was identified as a suspect before he came on stage at Trump’s rally. Cheatle was then asked why Trump was allowed to come on stage when they knew about the suspect? To this, he said that the security personnel did not consider him a threat because he was not seen carrying a weapon.

Cheatle said that the attacker was identified through the tracing system installed on the rifle he was carrying. Cheatle told the Parliament that the Secret Service has about 8,000 agents, but to function properly, it needs 9,500 agents.
