Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has said that he sees a glimpse of his fearless batting in 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Sehwag said- ‘Suryavanshi wants to hit the shot from the first ball itself.’
Sehwag supported Suryavanshi at the session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Delhi on Saturday. He said that if he gets a chance to play for India, Suryavanshi can take full advantage of it.
Sehwag also said that his place in Indian cricket should be decided not by age but by performance.

Sehwah dismisses concerns about Suryavanshi’s age
Sehwag dismissed the concerns being raised regarding Suryavanshi’s age. He said the age limit matters only in age-based competitions.
Sehwag said- ‘If you are playing in an age-based competition, then this is true. If it is Under-19, then your age should be less than 19 years.

Suryavanshi is still waiting for the opportunity
- Suryavanshi made his debut in senior international cricket against England in July 2026. He became India’s youngest international cricketer at the age of 15 years and 99 days.
- He scored 14 runs in 10 balls in his first T20 played in Manchester. His aggressive thinking was visible in this innings, although India lost the match.
- Even after this, Suryavanshi has not been able to make a regular place in India’s playing-11. He has been a part of the team, but there was competition between him and Samson for the combination and opening slot. He did not even play in the first two T20s against West Indies.

Suryavanshi has played T-20 matches so far. In this, he has scored 246 runs at an average of 30.75 and strike rate of 186.36. His best score is 81 runs.
