But after reaching the set, things did not turn out as they were expected. The script was not received, the agreement was not made and questions regarding the story kept increasing. While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Sonu Mishra told why he decided to leave the film ‘Black Deer’ midway and what happened behind this controversy.

Sonu Mishra has been working in the film industry for 18 years.
A call came and it was said – This is the biggest character of your life.
Sonu Mishra tells that on 14th April he suddenly got a call. At that time he was in a meeting of a big project. The callers said that you should be free on 16th, the biggest role of your life is being offered to you.
They were not given much information earlier. It was only told that a film is being made on a superstar. According to Sonu, he had worked with Salman Khan earlier also, so he felt that this could be a big opportunity for his career.
Called hurriedly, sent the ticket money and went straight to the shooting.
According to Sonu, he was told that the shoot had to be done very fast and he would have to reach UP the very next day. Token money was sent to him, through which flight tickets were booked. The shooting location was taken from Mumbai to Delhi and then by road. He says that everything was happening in a hurry from the beginning.
Had lead role, but neither script nor agreement received
Sonu says that even when he reached the set, he was not given complete information about the character. He asked several times where the script was and when the agreement would be done. He says that after working in the industry for so many years, this is the first time that despite having a lead role, no formal process was done.

Sonu Mishra has shared the court scene of the shooting of the film ‘Black Deer’ with Dainik Bhaskar.
While doing the courtroom scene, I felt that the matter was something else.
According to Sonu Mishra, most of the first day of shooting was being filmed in the courtroom setup. He claims that the character he was called for was of a person who was shown standing in a dock-like environment inside the court.
Sonu says that initially he was told that the film would be based on an incident and its related aspects, but after seeing the dialogues and scenes during the shoot, he felt that the film was not just recreating the incidents.
According to him, scenes involving arguments between lawyers, dialogues containing allegations and questioning characters were being shot in the courtroom areas. Sonu claims that he felt that one side of the story was coming out in a stronger manner.
Sonu says that it was during this time that he realized for the first time that there was a difference between the way the project was explained and what was being shot on the set.
According to him, on the same day he asked for the script and agreement from the team, so that he could understand the entire story. But he was told that the shoot had to be finished soon and the rest of the things would be completed later.
Sonu says that after the first day of shoot, questions started arising in his mind and by the second day he decided that without complete clarity, he did not want to be a part of this film further.

Sonu Mishra played the role of a constable in Salman’s film ‘Sikander’.
The next day I felt that I was not told the whole story
Sonu Mishra tells that after the first day he had many questions in his mind. So the next day he reached the set with the hope that now the script, agreement and the complete direction of the story would be explained to him.
According to him, the shooting continued on the second day as well, but things remained the same as on the first day. He again asked the team what is the story of the film, in which direction the character is going and when will the official process be completed.
Sonu claims that he was continuously told that the shoot had to be finished soon and the rest of the formalities would be completed later.
According to him, it was during this time that he realized that the narrative of the film was not going the way it was explained in the beginning.
Sonu says that by the second day he started feeling that he had not become a part of this project with complete information. According to him, he was not getting clarity in story, shoot and conversation.
He said that on the same day he had made up his mind that if the entire picture was not made clear through the script and agreement, then he would not be a part of the film further.
However, at that time he did not immediately announce his decision to leave the film. According to him, he wanted to give things a chance in a professional manner and was waiting for things to become clear in the future. But by the second day he had almost decided that he would walk out of this project.
The agreement was shown, this is where the biggest shock occurred
Sonu tells that he met the makers after a few days. They felt that now they will move forward in a formal manner. But according to him, there were some conditions related to promotion in the agreement, with which he did not agree.
“I tore up the agreement right there.” Sonu says that he made it clear at that very moment that he will not work in this manner. He says that he decided to leave the film right then and there.
In the voice note, something was said by name of Salman, then warning of legal action.
Sonu Mishra claimed in the interview that after leaving the film and expressing his views in the media, he received a voice note. According to Sonu, he had only asked when he would get the payment for the days shot.
He claims that in response he was told that he would no longer be talked to directly and that the legal team would contact him further. Sonu also claimed that in the voice note, taking the name of Salman Khan, it was said that even if he stands with Salman Khan, he will not be able to do any harm to him.
According to Sonu, it was also said in the conversation that he shared things related to the shoot on social media without permission and shared things in the media, on which legal action can be taken against him.
However, Sonu says that his intention was not to increase controversy. He only wanted answers regarding his stand and the outstanding payment.

Sonu Mishra told the truth about the notice of Salman Khan’s team.
Notice from Salman Khan’s team: When did it come, who got it and when did the makers show it?
Sonu Mishra claimed in the interview that there are questions regarding the timing and presentation of the legal notice which was later brought into discussion during the promotion of the film.
According to him, this notice reached freelance casting director Akshay Pandey on April 24. Sonu says that Akshay Pandey was contacting different artists for the film, but he was not associated with the makers’ team under any formal agreement.
How did information about the film reach out?
According to Sonu, many actors were contacted during casting. In this process, information reached some people in the industry that a film is being made, which is said to be related to the ‘Black Deer’ case and Salman Khan.
Sonu claims that during this time this information also reached Salman Khan’s team.
What was said in the notice?
According to Sonu, the tone of the notice was not directly threatening.
As per his claim, the notice stated that the matter related to the subject on which the film is being made is still in the judicial process. If material that affects a person’s image or personality is created, the right to take legal action can be reserved.
Sonu says that the focus of the notice was that the matter is sensitive and any conclusive presentation should be avoided.

The poster of the film ‘Blackbuck: The Battle for Legacy’ was released on 30 May 2026.
When did the makers make the notice public?
According to Sonu, the notice which was later shown publicly was brought out long after the notice was received. He claims that the notice was dated April 24, but it was put forward after the film’s poster was launched and the discussion started.
Sonu raises the question that if the notice was so important, then why was it not made public at the same time.
A different narrative was created regarding the notice
Sonu says that later there was a perception among the common people that the notice had come directly to stop the film or the artists. Whereas according to him, it is important to understand the actual status and timeline of the notice.
