On October 5, Saudi-backed Yemeni forces launched a major counter-offensive against the Houthis. The Yemeni army claimed to have recaptured the Dhubab area and several important positions near Bab al-Mandeb. After this the army moved towards Mocha and the Yemeni government claimed to have taken back the city from the Houthis. According to Reuters, government forces have pushed the Houthis back from most of the areas they captured last month. Saudi Arabia may soon attack Houthis. Saudi Arabia is preparing to start a war against Houthi rebels in Yemen. According to Reuters report, Saudi can land more than 1 lakh soldiers in Yemen. Its objective is to free the Bab al-Mandeb Strait from the control of Houthis and secure the route of maritime trade. According to the report, Saudi Arabia has two options for military action – this operation will be led by Yemeni forces, who will get the support of Saudi Arabia. If necessary, Saudi Arabia can also launch air strikes. Mecca Pact implemented – attack on one will be considered as attack on all three. Mecca Defense Agreement formally came into force with the meeting held on Monday in Riyadh. Under this, an attack on one country will be considered an attack on all three countries. Senior defense and military officials of the three countries attended the meeting. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yashar Güler were present from Turkey, while Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman were present from Saudi Arabia.
