According to Daily Star, from now on it will be told in the book that in the year 1971, Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan not by Mujibur Rahman but by Ziaur Rahman.

Ziaur Rahman was the husband of former Bangladesh President Khaleda Zia. He was also the Army Chief of Bangladesh. Later he became the President of the country. In the year 1981, he was murdered by some people associated with the army. According to the report, Mujib’s title of Father of the Nation has also been removed in the new book. This book will be taught to students from primary to secondary level.

Controversy regarding declaration of independence of Bangladesh It has always been disputed in Bangladesh as to who declared independence there. The Awami League claims that the announcement was made by ‘Bangabandhu’ Mujibur Rahman, while Khaleda Zia’s BNP party gives credit for it to its founder Ziaur Rahman.

According to the report, this is not the first time that such a change has happened in the textbook of Bangladesh. With the change of government there, there has been a change in the name of the leader who declared independence in the book.

Sheikh Hasina had made changes in the book 14 years ago After Sheikh Hasina came to power in 2009, there was a change in the books in 2010 also. It was then added to the books that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had declared independence through a wireless message before being arrested by Pakistani troops on 26 March 1971.

At the same time, now it will be told in the new books that on 26 March 1971, Ziaur Rahman was the first to announce the independence of Bangladesh. A day later, on March 27, Mujibur Rahman declared independence.

According to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCBT), now there will be no unnecessary glorification of any person in the history book. Also, any exaggerated statements made about anyone will also be removed.

There will be changes in 33 books, books 1-3 will remain the same. According to the report, the syllabus of old books from class 4th to 9th is being changed. Whereas the books of classes 1 to 3 will remain the same as before. Under this, the syllabus of a total of 33 books will be changed.

The syllabus of books of other subjects like Bengali, Mathematics, Bangladesh and Global Studies, Civics and Citizenship, History of Bangladesh are being changed. According to Rabiul Kabir Chaudhary associated with NCTB, the amendment process is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
