Two of the six rebel MLAs of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) came forward on Sunday. Dharashiv MP Omraj Nimbalkar announced at a meeting with workers in Pune that he would join Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
At the same time, Hingoli MP Nagesh Patil Ashtikar has made his stand clear through social media. He said- I am not at all angry or upset with party chief Uddhav Thackeray. The main reason for the rebellion is constituency development and lack of funds.
6 MPs of the party have rebelled
Six out of nine Lok Sabha MPs of the party had rebelled. On June 17, rebel MPs had submitted a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding recognition of themselves as a separate group.
Giving the reason for separation from Uddhav in the letter, the MPs have claimed that senior leaders of the Thackeray faction wanted to merge Shiv Sena with Congress. Uddhav has changed his ideology. We are separating to save the existence of the party.

My image is being tarnished: Nimbalkar
Omraj Nimbalkar said- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde immediately took cognizance against me as soon as the results were declared. Now we have to take a decision. Many workers told me that my image was being maligned.
Some people were saying that I had gone to declare the results. We are also facing problems in many works. That’s why I want you to support me in every decision I take. Many people have called me. After all we too have to live.

None of us went anywhere till June 18: Ashtikar
Describing the time of the rebellion, Nagesh Patil Ashtikar said – None of us had gone anywhere till June 18. But after that, due to the way the party made excessive statements, many colleagues felt that there was no point in stopping here now and they took this step.
Please, do not speak any unconstitutional language, do express anger but do not speak unconstitutional language, words are very important for the mind. Because, the acacia of our own village and the sacks of our own village.
Announcement of merger of Shiv Sena (UBT) with Congress
The discussion about a big development in Maharashtra politics has intensified. Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) may announce merger with Congress. Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) are already in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance.
On Friday, on the 60th foundation day of Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray had said – We have had political differences with Congress, but it never tried to destroy Shiv Sena, as BJP is doing.

Shinde said – The split in 2022 got public support
On Friday, on the 60th foundation day of Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray faction and Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena held separate rallies and programs in Mumbai. The program of Uddhav faction took place at Shanmukhananda Hall in Sion. Shinde faction’s meeting was organized at Nesco Center in Goregaon.
During this, Eknath Shinde said that his rebellion has received public support. Today Shiv Sena led by him has strong representation in MLAs, MPs and local bodies.

Party split for the second time in 4 years
In June 2022, 39 MLAs rebelled under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and divided Shiv Sena into two parts. After this, the Election Commission gave the name Shiv Sena and the Dhanush-Arrow election symbol to the Shinde faction. Now the rebellion of 6 MPs is the second major breakdown for the party in the last four years.
3 MPs did not attend Uddhav’s meeting
Uddhav Thackeray had called a meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentary party in Delhi on June 18. Only 3 out of 9 Lok Sabha MPs Anil Desai, Arvind Sawant and Rajabhau Waje attended this meeting. Sanjay Raut said that our MPs have been kidnapped. Whoever comes to the meeting is with us, whoever does not come is a traitor.

Group of 6 MPs may get relief from anti-defection law
Shiv Sena (UBT) has 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Under the anti-defection law, at least two-thirds of the MPs are required to be together to avoid disqualification after a split in a party. That is, if 6 out of 9 MPs decide to secede together, then they can claim to call themselves a legitimate faction.
For this reason, the news of rebellion of 6 MPs is being considered important from both political and legal point of view. According to experts, merely forming separate groups will not be enough.
In future, these MPs may also have to complete the process of merger with another party, so that their position can be legally strengthened.

27 AAP-TMC MPs rebel before Shiv Sena
During the last 3 months, 27 MPs from the opposition group have rebelled against their party and supported BJP or NDA. These include 7 AAP Rajya Sabha MPs and 20 TMC Lok Sabha MPs.
Amid speculations of a split in Shiv Sena (UBT), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Chief and UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed that there is going to be a major split in the Samajwadi Party and many leaders of the party are ready to join BJP.
SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav rejected the speculations of a split in the party and said that the SP is strong and united. Akhilesh said that BJP’s own MLAs in Uttar Pradesh are about to change sides.
