22 -year -old law student Sharmishta Panoli, who was arrested from Gurugram in the case of allegedly posting communal social media on Operation Sindoor, is now getting support from Europe. The Netherlands (Dutch) Parliament member Gire Wilders has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect the rights of shy and described his arrest as ‘the blot on freedom of expression’.
Girart Wilders wrote on X with a poster written ‘All Eyes on Sharmistha’, ‘Release brave shy Panauli! Arrested them is shameful for freedom of expression. Do not punish them to tell the truth about Pakistan. Help them.
Nupur Sharma has also given together
This is not the first time that the wilders have openly sided with any dispute in India. He also supported BJP’s Nupur Sharma in 2022, when an international controversy arose from one of his statements. Last year, the wilders said that he wanted to come to India one day and meet Nupur Sharma.
What is the whole controversy?
Sharmishta Panoli, who has 1.75 lakh followers on X and Instagram, was arrested due to a video removed now. In this video, he criticized some Bollywood stars as to why he has silence on Operation Sindoor. It is alleged that he used objectionable language against a community in the video.
Sharmishta apologized
Although Shiyamishtha had apologized unconditionally after removing the video, an FIR was lodged against him in Kolkata, including allegations of spreading hatred on religious grounds, inciting religious sentiments and insulting them with the intention of disturbing peace.
Shy in 14 days judicial custody
While coming out of the court, Shyamishtha told the media, ‘The way this harassment is being done in democracy is not democracy.’ He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Soon after, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari targeted the Mamata Banerjee government, saying, “Action is only against Sanatanis in the state.”
