At least five loud explosions were heard on Iran’s Qeshm Island on Monday. An explosion was also reported in the nearby city of Bandar Lengeh. Voting for midterm elections is to be held in America on Tuesday.

However, the report of the Iranian agency has not confirmed the involvement of America or Israel behind these blasts. Iran claimed to have shot down two American MQM-170 spy drones.

Why is Qeshm Island on America’s target?
Qeshm Island, spread over about 1,445 square kilometers, is the largest island of Iran. It was once known for its free-trade zone and tourist spot, but has now turned into a major military base.
This island, located at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, is very important strategically. America considers it a major military threat for many reasons.

Important for controlling sea routes: Iran has built military bases inside the island, the purpose of which is to control the sea routes. It is believed that from here the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz can be stopped or limited.
Impact on world oil supply: The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil and gas sea routes. According to America, Iran has used Qeshm Island to stop the movement of oil tankers or to create pressure.
Trump said- Iran wants to reach an agreement soon
Earlier on Monday, Trump had said that America is not currently preparing to attack Iran again. He had said that an agreement can be reached with Tehran.
Journalists asked Trump if he was considering attacking Iran after the US midterm elections on Tuesday. To this he replied- “No.”
Trump also expressed hope for an agreement with Iran. He posted on social media and claimed that oil prices have fallen by about $10 per barrel due to reduced fear of a major war with Iran. Trump called it a record decline.
On October 31, oil prices were $118 per barrel. On November 1, it reached $108 per barrel.
