Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Sunday attacked former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari’s statement on Hindu right-wing communalism. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal accused Ansari of having ‘anti-Hindu, Nehruvian and fundamentalist thinking’. Bansal said that Ansari should look in the ‘mirror’ of his public life before calling India’s majority Hindu society a threat to the country. The statement came after an event organized at the India Islamic Cultural Center on Friday. The program was held in memory of constitutional expert AG Noorani. Ansari spoke in the program on emerging trends challenging civic nationalism. He had cited the statement of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Ansari told that this statement of Nehru was given in the meeting of officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. It was recorded by former Foreign Secretary Jagat Singh Gundevia. He said that this statement has been recorded by AG Noorani in his book ‘The RSS: A Menace to India’ published in 2019. VHP spokesperson made allegations against Ansari. Bansal reacted to Ansari’s statement on X. He said, “While being the Vice President, you were present in the programs related to PFI. While being the Ambassador, many dark spots of harming the national interests are associated with your tenure. Despite this, today you are teaching the lesson of communalism to Hindus?” Bansal alleged that Ansari is now again showing his fundamentalist thinking by saying baseless things against the Hindu society. He also accused him of having “anti-India and anti-Hindu thinking”. Bansal also targeted Ansari for his criticism on the Ayodhya decision. He said, “You should know that India has the largest number of mosques in the world. You had earlier criticized the historic decision of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi.” Bansal said, “Come out of Nehruvite, Jinnahite and anti-Hindu thinking. The country has given you position, respect, money and prestige.
