The 10th edition of the Women’s Asia Cup will start from today in Dubai. This time 12 matches will be played between 8 teams. Sri Lanka is the defending champion, while India is the most successful team with 7 titles.

When and how did it start?
For the first time in 2004, India and Sri Lanka played the Asia Cup. There was a 5-match ODI series between the two teams and India won all five matches and won the title.
After this, in 2005-06, 2006 and 2008 also the tournament was played in ODI format. For the first time in 2012, the Women’s Asia Cup was played in 20-20 over format. Since then all the editions are being played in this format.
What is the format this time?
In 2026, 8 teams have been divided into two groups. There are 4-4 teams in both the groups. Each team will play one match each against the remaining three teams of its group. Top-2 teams will reach the semi-finals. The team that wins the semi-finals will play the final on September 13.
When will India’s matches be held?
India is in Group-A. The team will play three matches in this stage. The first match will be against Thailand, the second match will be against Hong Kong, China and the third will be against Pakistan.

India’s captain in the 2026 Asia Cup is Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti Mandhana is the vice-captain.
