Russia’s Tu-22M3 bomber aircraft crashed during a training flight in the Irkutsk region of Siberia on Monday. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, the plane fell rapidly towards the ground, leaving a huge plume of smoke at the scene.
The Defense Ministry said that the four crew members on board the plane ejected in time and there is no threat to their lives. Everyone has been admitted to the hospital. There was no damage on the ground in the accident.
Irkutsk region governor Igor Kobzev said the plane crashed near the village of Kamenka. In the initial investigation, engine failure is believed to be the cause of the accident.
The Tu-22, codenamed Backfire by NATO, is a Soviet-era supersonic bomber aircraft. Russia has used it during military operations in Syria and Ukraine. The Tu-22M3 is its modernized version, capable of carrying Kh-22 cruise missiles and air-launched hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.

A trial in America found that stopping the use of social media platforms increased happiness, satisfaction with life and improved depression-anxiety among youth.
More than 25 countries are taking initiative to ban social media for teenagers and children. The ban was implemented in Australia a year ago. Restrictions have also been implemented in Malaysia, Indonesia and Brazil since the beginning of this year. In many countries like Norway, France, America, China, rules related to social media are being made strict for children.
