A fire broke out on Thursday at the main venue of the ongoing UN COP30 Climate Summit in Belem city of Brazil. This created chaos among the thousands of people present there. In the videos and pictures from the incident site, people were seen running here and there to save their lives. The Brazilian government says the fire has now been brought under control and there have been no casualties.
Dozens of ambulances have reached the spot. Fire engines are also coming continuously to extinguish the fire. The fire broke out in the Blue Zone at 2 pm Belem time and 10.30 pm Indian time. All meetings, negotiations, country pavilions, media centers and offices of all high profile people are located in the Blue Zone, including the main Plenary Hall.
As soon as the news of the fire spread, people came out through the exit doors. People from more than 190 countries have arrived to participate in the annual COP30 Climate Summit of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is going to happen from 10th to 21st November.
