US President Donald Trump has said that he will not attend the G20 summit to be held in South Africa this month. He said,
I’m not going to the G20. South Africa should no longer be in the G20 because the situation there is bad. I have told them that I am not going to represent our country there.
Trump made this statement at the ‘America Business Forum’ organized in Miami on Wednesday.
This year South Africa is presiding over the G20. This summit is going to be held for the first time on African soil in Johannesburg on 22-23 November.
India chaired the G20 from December 2022 to November 2023 and hosted the 18th G20 summit in New Delhi in September 2023. At that time US President Joe Biden had come to India.
G20 includes a total of 19 countries and the European Union and the African Union. The African Union got the status of permanent member during India’s presidency.
