According to a report by the New York Post, Singh had illegally entered the US by crossing the southern border in California in September 2018.

Two days after crossing the border, he was arrested by the border petrol and a fast-track exile process was done to send him back to India.

However, during the proceedings, he claimed that he was afraid of returning to India, after which US authorities released him on a $ 5,000 bond in January 2019. Now Singh has been arrested in the murder case.
