Recently, a major accident occurred due to a bridge falling in Vadodara in Gujarat, in which about 16 people have died so far. The accident happened due to the breakdown of the bridge over the Mahisagar river in Gambhra. At present, three people are said to be missing. Rescue operation is still going on. A new update has come out in the case. Based on the initial investigation of the bridge accident, 4 officers have been suspended.
An executive engineer, two deputy executive engineers and an assistant engineer of the Road and Building Department have been suspended with immediate effect. Executive Engineer N.M. Naikavala, Deputy Executive Engineer U.C. Patel, Deputy Executive Engineer R.T. Patel and Assistant Engineer J.V. Shah has been suspended with immediate effect.

Order to investigate other bridges
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had entrusted a team of experts to prepare a report on the repair, inspection and quality check of the Gambhra bridge affected by the accident to a team of experts.
The team of experts submitted a preliminary inquiry report of the causes of the incident after visiting the accident site. The team consisted of Chief Engineer- Design, Chief Engineer- South Gujarat and Bridge Construction Experts and two private engineers.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has instructed to inspect other bridges of the state, keeping in mind the security in the public interest.
