Apart from defence, there can also be talks between India and Russia in the field of nuclear power. Russian government company Rosatom is working on the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in India. Now there can also be discussion on setting up new nuclear power plants using Russian technology in India.

Efforts to increase business in rupees and rubles

India and Russia want to increase trade in rupees and rubles instead of dollars. With this, payments between the two countries will be possible in their respective currencies.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had said that Russia is not trying to remove the dollar, but is ready for easier methods of payment. He said that about 90% of Russia’s trade with BRICS countries is being done in local currency.

Both the countries have also deposited each other’s currency. Now talks can be held on using this money in business and investment and making payments in rupees and rubles easier.

Ways to reach Russia will be easy

Both countries can also talk about expanding the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and Chennai-Vladivostok sea route to increase trade.

INSTC connects India to Russia via Iran. At the same time, the time to deliver goods between India and the eastern part of Russia through Chennai-Vladivostok sea route can be reduced from about 40 days to 20-22 days.
