Yoon Suk Yeol took over as the President of South Korea in the year 2022.
On December 3, President Yun Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law in South Korea. The president accused the opposition of controlling parliament, sympathizing with North Korea, and engaging in activities seeking to topple the government. He made this announcement in a televised address to the nation. With this, the ongoing political tension in South Korea has further increased. Yun’s People Power Party is in power from May 2022. The opposition Democratic Party is opposing the policies of the government. This is the first time since 1980 that martial law has been declared in South Korea.

Martial law has been imposed in the country at a time when there is disagreement between the government and the opposition party in Parliament regarding the budget bill. There were demonstrations from the streets to the Parliament in the capital Seoul. There has been a vote against this decision in Parliament.
Helicopters have been deployed above the Parliament. The army detained several opposition MPs. Protesters and police clashed outside the South Korean parliament in protest against the imposition of martial law.

- All political activities including meetings of the National Assembly, local councils and political parties, political associations, rallies and demonstrations will be banned.
- There will be a ban on fake news, public opinion and false propaganda.
- All media and publications will be under the control of the Martial Law Command.
- Action will be taken against strike and work stoppage.
- All medical personnel, including trainee doctors, who are on strike or have left the medical field, must return to their jobs within 48 hours. Will have to work honestly. Violators will be punished as per martial law.
