The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition filed regarding the site of construction of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. The question raised in the petition was whether the Ram Janmabhoomi temple was actually built on the same land for which the Supreme Court had ordered in its judgment. The petitioner had asked the court to confirm this on the basis of land records and other documents. Demand for formation of independent commission in the petition: The petition also demands that an independent committee or commission be formed by the court. It should include such qualified experts from survey, revenue, archeology and other technical fields as this court deems appropriate. Its purpose is to find out whether the temple presently built/developed is situated at the same place and land on which the judgment was given by this Court. The Supreme Court’s decision came on 9 November 2019. In a historic decision given on 9 November 2019, the 5-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court had cleared the way for a trust to build a Ram temple at the disputed site of Ayodhya. The court had directed the central government to give 5 acres of alternative land to the Sunni Waqf Board to build a new mosque at a ‘prominent’ place in the holy city of Uttar Pradesh. Ramlala’s life consecration took place on 22 January 2024. The construction of Ram temple started on 5 August 2020 with Bhoomi Pujan. After the construction of the sanctum sanctorum and the first floor of the temple under the supervision of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the idol of the child form of Shri Ram was consecrated on 22 January 2024. PM Modi was the chief host in this historic function. After Pran Pratistha, Ram temple was opened to the common people.
