The problems of businessman Raj Kundra and actress Shilpa Shetty may increase in the fraud case. Investigation by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has revealed that the fraud case related to Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty’s company ‘Best Deal TV’ is worth more than Rs 60 crore.
According to news agency IANS, Mumbai Police said that during the investigation it came to light that the statements of former CFO (Chief Financial Officer), accountants and former directors of companies associated with Raj Kundra revealed that investors’ money was misused. This amount was siphoned off through companies linked to Raj Kundra, such as Statement Media Solutions and Logistics.
Many payments were shown on record, but the money was not actually paid.
Now Mumbai Police has ordered a forensic audit of bank accounts to find out the full scale of the fraud.

Four employees were summoned for questioning
Earlier, EOW had summoned four employees of Shilpa and Raj’s company Best Deal TV Private Limited for questioning in this matter.
According to NDTV report, a senior official said that one of the four employees had recorded his statement before the EOW last week and he may be called again if needed.
The statements of the remaining three employees will be recorded in the coming days. All of them were holding senior positions in Raj Kundra’s company at that time.
The purpose of the EOW inquiry is to find out whether Rs 20 crore was actually spent on office furnishings as stated by Raj Kundra. Besides, it is also being investigated whether the employees’ salaries were paid from the company’s earnings or from some other source.
EOW is trying to connect the entire money trail by interrogating these employees.
EOW will soon also interrogate those product suppliers and companies who had made advertisements for Raj Kundra’s company. After all the inquiries are completed, Kundra will be called again if needed.
What is the case of fraud of Rs 60 crore?
In August 2025, a Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari has filed a complaint against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra for fraud of Rs 60 crore. According to Deepak Kothari, he met Shilpa and Kundra in 2015 through agent Rajesh Arya. At that time both were directors of Best Deal TV and Shilpa held more than 87% shares of the company.

Copy of the FIR of the case registered against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra.
According to the complaint, it was decided in a meeting that Deepak would give loan to Shilpa and Raj Kundra’s company. A loan of Rs 75 crore was sought for the company, on which interest was fixed at 12% per annum.
Deepak Kothari alleges that later Shilpa and Kundra told him that there could be tax problems on the loan, hence they show it as an investment and will give returns every month. In April 2015, Kothari made the first payment of about Rs 31.95 crore. As tax issues continued, a second deal was struck in September and between July 2015 and March 2016, he transferred another Rs 28.54 crore.
In total he gave Rs 60.48 crore, also paid Rs 3.19 lakh as stamp duty. Kothari claims that Shilpa had given him a personal guarantee in April 2016, but in September the same year, she resigned from the post of director of the company.
After this, a case of non-payment of loan of Rs 1.28 crore came to light against Shilpa’s company. Kothari had no knowledge of this. He asked for his money back several times, but did not receive any response or money.
First the case was registered at Juhu Police Station under fraud and forgery. Since the amount was more than Rs 10 crore, the investigation has been handed over to the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW). EOW is investigating this case.
Shilpa was interrogated for 4 and a half hours
On October 7, in the fraud case, the EOW (Economic Offense Wing) team reached Shilpa Shetty’s house and interrogated her for about 4 and a half hours. Apart from Shilpa, Raj Kundra’s statement was also recorded.
When Raj was interrogated in the month of October. During this, he had said that the amount given by Deepak Kothari to Best Deal was given to Bipasha Basu, Neha Dhupia and producer Ekta Kapoor as professional fees.
