There will also be no scientific and technical awards this year.
Nomination announcement date postponed due to wild fire
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday announced the postponement of the Oscar 2025 nomination announcement. According to the official website of the Oscars, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer and Secretary Janet Yang said in an official statement, “We have all been affected by wildfires and many in our society have been devastated by the tremendous losses. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry and we are committed to standing together to face every difficulty. These big changes happened in the Oscar schedule
- Voting for the Oscar nominations was earlier scheduled to take place from January 8 to January 12, however, now the voting dates have been extended to January 17.
- The announcement date for Oscar nominations has been extended to January 23. Earlier this announcement was to be made on January 17. The process of nomination will be virtual.
- The Oscar nominees luncheon scheduled for February 10 has now been cancelled. This will not happen this year.
- The Scientific and Technical Awards, which were scheduled to take place on February 18, are also being postponed. Its new date will be announced.
