Photographs of American sex criminal Epstein and Union Minister Hardeep Puri are available on the website of the US Justice Department.
Many pictures of Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri with American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are viral. These pictures are considered important because Puri has been continuously saying that he met Epstein only with the delegation and never met him separately.
After the pictures surfaced, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet wrote in a social media post – When Puri had said that he never met Epstein alone, what is the meaning of these pictures?

These photographs were included in the ninth set of documents released by the Justice Department. There are at least 11 photos in this set. This picture came into discussion on social media on Tuesday.
In these pictures both are seen sitting in almost the same position. There is a slight difference in the angle of the photos.
Rahul Gandhi’s allegations were rejected
In February this year, Hardeep Singh Puri had rejected the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha regarding the Epstein files.
Puri had said that he had met Epstein after leaving the post of India’s Ambassador to the United Nations and before joining the Union Cabinet in 2017. He described these meetings as completely professional and said that they had no connection with the criminal allegations against Epstein.
Puri had said in an interview in February that he had gone as a delegation associated with the International Peace Institute (IPI). During that time he met Epstein. They meet a wide variety of people in public life, some of whom may have criminal records. According to Puri, his boss at IPI, Terje Rode-Larsen, knew Epstein.
Puri said-
I didn’t know who Epstein was when we first met him. We searched about him on Google. Then we also discussed among ourselves whether we should meet him or not?
Name appeared for the first time in November 2025
Mentioned in the email of the monitoring committee: The issue of Hardeep Singh Puri and Jeffrey Epstein’s contacts first came into public discussion in November 2025. At that time, an email released by the Oversight Committee of the House of Representatives mentioned the conversation between Epstein and Puri.
When are the emails: After this, on January 30, the US Justice Department (DoJ) released millions of pages of documents related to Epstein. These include emails between June 2014 and June 2017.
Mention of three meetings: According to the emails, Puri visited Epstein’s home in New York on February 4, 2015, January 6, 2016 and May 19, 2017.
Epstein was a convicted sex offender: Epstein was convicted of sex crimes in 2008. That is, the meetings mentioned by Puri took place at a time when Epstein’s criminal record already existed.
Mention of ‘Exotic Island’: In an email, Puri referred to Epstein’s ‘exotic island’ and told him to ‘have fun’. Puri later said that ‘have fun’ is his common way of speaking.
Epstein was a millionaire financier and sex offender.
Jeffrey Epstein was a millionaire financier from New York. He was friends with big leaders and celebrities.
He was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2005. In 2008 he was convicted of soliciting sex from a minor.
He was jailed for 13 months. In 2019, Jeffrey was arrested on sex trafficking charges. But before the trial he committed suicide in jail.
His partner Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of charges of helping him in 2021. She is serving a 20-year sentence.
