The BJP has strictly opposed the Kerala government’s decision to invite Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin as the chief guest at Global Ayyappa Sangamam, the major festival of South India. The BJP said that this step of the Kerala government is the same as “Hitler” to honor the Jews.
Global Ayyappa Sangamam is being organized according to full customs and traditions, in which ministers of Karnataka and Telangana, Kerala Ministers, opposition leaders and all others will be involved. The festival is being organized by the Travancore Devaswam Board and the Government of Kerala. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will participate in this conference as the chief guest and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate it.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly objected to the calling of Tamil Nadu CM Stalin as Chief Guest. He alleged that Stalin remained silent when his party leaders at DMK made derogatory remarks about Hinduism.
Significantly, Udayanidhi, son of CM Stalin and Minister in the Tamil Nadu government, had made a disputed comment on Sanatan Dharma and compared Sanatan Dharma to dengue-malaria.
It’s bitter, but true- BJP
Kerala BJP President Rajiv Chandrashekhar warned that if Stalin and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan does not apologize to Hindus and Ayyappa devotees, the party would “protest” their participation. He alleged that Vijayan had earlier ordered “police action and cases against devotees in Sabarimala.”
Rajiv Chandrashekhar further said, “Indian alliance parties like Congress, CPM and DMK to go to the Sabarimala program are as unrealistic as Hitler honor the Jews, to speak the truth of Rahul Gandhi, to become a peacekeeper of Osama bin Laden, Hamas/Jamaat-e-Islami to honor the people of other religions and renounce Congress/INDIA coalitions and renunciation of Congress/INDIA alliance.”
The former Union Minister said, “It is a bitter thing, but true. Any talk of Rahul Gandhi-led India alliance- neither lies, nor hypocrisy- I no longer surprise or shocked me.”
Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Sundararajan described the move as a “biggest hypocrisy” and said that Stalin had rejected the invitation of Hindu organizations in Tamil Nadu, but agreed to attend the conference in Kerala.
Kerala government in favor of inviting
At the same time, the Kerala government has defended the decision to make Stalin the chief guest of this religious conference. Minister of Kerala Devaswom Department VN Vasavan said that the global Ayyappa Sangamam being organized jointly by the state government and the Travancore Devaswom Board is the first such congregation of Ayyappa devotees from all over the world. He said that the objective of the event is to give Sabarimala the status of a global pilgrimage center, which will also include ministers of Karnataka and Telangana, big ministers of Kerala, opposition leaders and thousands of devotees.
He said, “This is an opportunity to listen to Ayapas around the world.” He further said that facilities like housing, medical service and special transport will be arranged for the devotees. The government is also implementing a master plan of Rs 1,300 crore for the development of Sabarimala, including the proposed airport and railway line, which is expected to be operational by 2028.
Explain that this conference associated with Lord Ayyappa, the major center of Hindus of South India, will be organized according to customs and traditions and it will include 3,000 delegates.
