A 55-year-old passenger who lit a lamp at the berth in Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mysore Express was deboarded from the train. A police case has also been registered against him. This incident happened on August 31 in train number 12782.

Actually, after receiving the complaint, TTE reached the coach. A burning lamp was found on the passenger berth along with matchsticks, a brass lamp and a steel container. The TTE asked him to extinguish the lamp and informed him about the danger of fire.

The traveler said that he would extinguish the lamp after completing the puja. TTE made a video of the incident. After this the passenger was dropped at Bhusaval station.

Railways has appealed to the passengers not to carry flammable items in the train. Also asked not to burn lamps, candles and incense sticks, as these can cause fire.

Case registered under 2 sections of Railway Act

According to the release, a case was registered against the passenger on Tuesday under sections 153 and 145(B) of the Railway Act, 1989. At present he was released after giving a notice under Section 35(C) of the Indian Judicial Code.

  • Section 153 of Railway Act: This is related to activities that endanger the safety of passengers. Under this, there can be a maximum jail term of up to 5 years.
  • Section 145(B) of Railway Act: This is related to carrying or using flammable goods. There is a provision for removal from railway premises, fine up to Rs 5,000 and in some cases, imprisonment up to 5 years.
