Pakistan Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday that on September 17, Israeli drone attacked a petroleum gas (LPG) tanker at Ras al-Isa port in Yemen. This port is under the control of Huti rebels.
The tanker was riding 27 crew members, including 24 Pakistani, 2 Sri Lankan and 1 Nepali citizens. Tanker captain Muktar Akbar is also Pakistani.
Naqvi said on the US social media platform X that the drone attack exploded an LPG tank of the tanker, causing a fire. The crew took immediate action and controlled the fire.
However, the boats of Huti rebels then surrounded the tanker and took the crew hostage on the ship itself. Naqvi said that after long efforts, the tanker and its crew have been released by the huts after 10 days, and now they have come out safely from the Yemen’s terrain.
The attack exploded in the LPG tank, causing a fire.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also said on Sunday morning that 24 Pakistani citizens riding on the tanker are completely safe and are moving forward.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that Pakistani embassies spoke to the Yemeni officials as soon as the fire broke out in the tanker on the banks of Yemen on 17 September.
Immediate steps were taken to ensure the safety of the crew and to reopen the tanker. The embassies also kept constant contact with the crew’s families and gave them updates.
Naqvi said- released from the efforts of security agencies
Naqvi appreciated the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Khurram Aga, Pakistani Ambassador Naved Bokhari and his team, Saudi Arabia and officials of the security agencies for safe release of the crew.

Israel attacked Yemen’s control headquarters
Earlier, Israel attacked Sana, the capital of Yemen, on 10 September. According to Al Masira TV, the Huti Defense Ministry was targeted in this attack.
