For this he is also adopting different tactics. To put pressure on other countries, the Trump government has deployed warships in some places and has taken the help of heavy tariffs in some places.

Venezuela- Warship for regime change

In Venezuela, Trump has been trying to remove President Nicolas Maduro for a long time. In 2019, he considered opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president.

Now after becoming President again, Trump accused Maduro of sending drugs to America and deployed American warships near Venezuela. The CIA was authorized to take action to remove Maduro from power and the US military is seizing Venezuelan oil tankers.

America has so far placed a reward of about 50 million dollars (about Rs 420 crore) on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Brazil – direct hit from 50% tariff

In Brazil, Trump imposed a 50% tariff on the current President Lula da Silva government in support of former President Jair Bolsonaro, considered close to him. This was the largest US tariff ever imposed on any country.

Along with this, America also imposed visa and economic restrictions on Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Morais, who gave the decision against Bolsonaro. The clear message was that if action was taken against Bolsonaro, America would put pressure.

Honduras- Trying to make the favorite candidate win

Presidential elections were held in the Central American country Honduras on 30 November 2025. Trump openly supported Nasri Asfura and warned that if his candidate did not win, economic aid from the US would be affected.

The elections were very close. Asfura was declared the winner amid allegations of vote counting delays, technical glitches and rigging. The opposition refused to accept the results, but pressure from America is being linked to this victory.

During the election itself, Trump pardoned the sentence of former Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez. He was accused of drug smuggling in America and was also associated with Asfura’s party. This was considered a political move by Trump.

Nasri Asfura is a conservative leader from Honduras. He has won the disputed presidential election of 2025. Asfura has the support of Trump.

Argentina- created atmosphere by threatening

Ahead of parliamentary elections in Argentina on October 26, 2025, Trump told President Javier Milli that if he lost, the US would take strict action against Argentina. This statement spread panic in the market and divided politics further. Ultimately Mieli’s party emerged as the largest party in the elections. This was also seen as being linked to pressure from Trump.

Myanmar- China’s challenge to America

US-backed Nobel-winning human rights activist Aung San Suu Kyi came to power in 2020, following a coup in 2021. Now elections are to be held in Myanmar from December 28, but the reality is that there will be no voting in more than half of the country. There is military rule there and opposition leaders have already been ousted. The United Nations has described these elections as just a sham.

Here America is facing the challenge of China. China is trying to legitimize the government of military dictator General Min Aung Hlaing by sending voter lists, technology and observers for this election.

China considers Myanmar as an access route to the Indian Ocean and big projects like ports, oil-gas pipelines and roads are underway there. These projects have been halted due to civil war, hence China is supporting the army, so that its interests are protected.

With these steps, America wants to show that it is not going to spare governments that go against its interests. Be it economic pressure, diplomatic threats or demonstration of military force, the Trump administration seems ready to adopt every method.
