Yesterday’s big news was related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apology in Maharashtra. The second big news was about the new feature in digital payment, now a single UPI ID can be used in multiple mobiles.

- PM Modi will flag off 2 Vande Bharat Express through video conferencing. The first Vande Bharat will run from Chennai to Nagercoil and the second Vande Bharat will run from Madurai to Bengaluru Cantt.
- The three-day All India Coordination Meeting of RSS will begin in Palakkad, Kerala. Leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Vidyarthi Parishad and BJP will participate in it.
- Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will visit Uttarakhand on a two-day visit. He will interact with scientists and students at CSIR- Indian Institute of Petroleum in Dehradun.

1. On the fall of Shivaji’s statue, Modi said- I bow down and apologize; the statue fell on 26 August

PM Modi inaugurated projects worth ₹ 76 thousand crores in Palghar, Maharashtra. After this, he apologized for the case of the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue. Modi said, ‘For us, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a Maharaja. For us, he is worshipable. Today I bow down before Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and ask for forgiveness from him.’
This statue of Shivaji Maharaj installed in Sindhudurg fell and broke on 26 August. PM himself inaugurated it on 4 December 2023. Before Modi, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar have also apologized. On the other hand, Congress wrote on X – ‘The fierce opposition of the people of Maharashtra and the opposition forced Modi to apologize. But this is not an apology but a pretense.’
Statue falling case, consultant arrested: In the case of the fall of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sindhudurg Police has arrested the structural consultant and the contractor. Meanwhile, the director of Maharashtra Art Directorate says that we had given permission for only 6 feet. The Navy increased its height to 35 feet without informing us.
Elections may be held in October: The term of the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra is ending on 26 November 2024. Assembly elections may be held in October. In 2019, BJP became the largest party by winning 105 seats. Shiv Sena (before the split) chief Uddhav Thackeray became the CM with 56 MLAs. After this, in May 2022, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde in the MVA government rebelled with 39 MLAs and joined the BJP. Shinde took oath as the 20th CM of Maharashtra on 30 June 2022.

2. Mamta’s second letter to Modi in 8 days, said- you did not respond on a sensitive issue
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wrote a second letter to PM Modi in 8 days regarding the Kolkata rape-murder case. In this, Mamata said, ‘I had written a letter on August 22 demanding a law to give severe punishment to the rapist, but did not receive any reply from you on such a sensitive issue. I received a reply from the Government of India, but the seriousness of the issue was not taken into account in it.’ Mamata has appealed to the central government to make strict laws for heinous crimes like rape-murder.
BJP-TMC performance: Both TMC and BJP protested on Friday over the rape-murder case. Bengal BJP’s Mahila Morcha took out a march to the State Women’s Commission office under the ‘Mahila Aayog Talaband Abhiyan’. On the other hand, TMC’s student wing protested in all the colleges of the state. TMC has also announced to hold a dharna in all the blocks of the state today.

3. India wins 4 medals at Paris Paralympics; Avani Lekhara wins gold with Paralympic record

India won 4 medals on the third day of Paris Paralympics. Avni Lekhara won gold and Mona Agarwal won bronze medal in women’s shooting. Avni is the first Indian woman to win two gold medals in Paralympics, she also won gold in Tokyo Paralympics. On the other hand, Manish Narwal won silver in men’s 10 meter air pistol shooting. Preeti Pal won bronze medal in women’s 100 meter T-35 category race. Preeti is the first Indian to win a medal in the track event of Paralympics.

4. Hidden camera found in washroom of girls’ hostel in Andhra Pradesh; 300 videos-photos leaked, accused arrested
There was an uproar after a hidden camera was found in the girls’ washroom of an engineering college in Gudiwada of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. After getting information about the incident, the students protested. The police have arrested a B.Tech final year student in this case. According to the police, 300 photos and videos have been leaked.
Blackmailed girlfriend and installed camera in washroom: Some media reports have claimed that a college girl helped the accused in hiding the camera in the girls’ toilet. The police or the college administration have not revealed who that girl was. The accused first made a video of his girlfriend in the OYO room. Then he blackmailed her and asked her to install a camera in the hostel.

5. 5 people can make payments from one UPI account, transaction limit up to ₹ 15,000 in a month
Now a single UPI ID can be used in more than one mobile. For this, the government has launched a feature called ‘UPI Circle Delegate Payment’. Through UPI Circle, the primary user can make 5 people as secondary users. Secondary users can transact up to 15 thousand rupees every month. However, only transactions of up to 5000 rupees can be done at a time. It is not necessary for the secondary user to have a bank account.
What is full and partial delegation: There are two types of delegation in the UPI circle. First – full delegation, in which the secondary user will enter the UPI PIN. Second – partial delegation – in this the payment will be made only when the primary user enters the PIN. The primary user will have full control of all the secondary users. Without his permission, no secondary user will be able to make payment.

6. Reliance-Disney merger will create the country’s largest network, after CCI, now NCLT Mumbai has also approved the deal
Disney and Reliance Entertainment are merging. Its merger has been approved by the Competition Commission of India, i.e. CCI. After CCI, the Mumbai Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has also approved this deal. After the merger, it will become India’s largest entertainment company. The company will have 75 crore viewers across India.
There will be 120 channels and 2 OTT: In this mega-merger, 80 channels of Disney Star and 40 channels of Reliance Viacom18 will be added. That is, there will be a total of 120 channels. However, some of these channels can be closed. Both also have OTT apps – Disney Hotstar and Jio Cinema. The new company formed after the merger will have 2 lakh hours of digital content.

7. Asna cyclone threat from Gujarat averted, moves towards Pakistan; Rain alert in Saurashtra-Kutch

The threat of Asna storm in Gujarat has been averted. It has turned towards Pakistan in the Arabian Sea. However, the effect of the storm is still visible in the coastal areas of Saurashtra-Kutch.
