The Meghalaya Police has deployed drones and investigative dogs to search for the newly married couple of Indore missing in Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma spoke to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday night and assured all possible help.
A senior official of the Meghalaya Home Department said that a drone and special K9 dog squad have been deployed to search for the missing couple since Sunday evening. Drone and K9 units were deployed to assist three investigative parties to search for a search on the living route bridge on which the couple stayed one night.
According to the police, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam reached Mavalakhiyat village on 22 May and rented a scooter to see the Living Route Bridge in Nongriyat village under the Sohra police station. The couple spent one night at homestay and checked out the next day to return to Mavalkiat.
The Meghale police official told a news agency that on May 24, his scooter was found in an abandoned condition near a cafe on the side of the Shillong-Sohra road, after which the initial search operation was started with the help of local villagers.
A senior police officer involved in the search and rescue operations said, “No verified information has been confirmed by the couple’s activities yet and their phone is also closed.”
A source close to the Chief Minister said, “Sangma spoke to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and assured all possible help from the Meghalaya Police and all the concerned parties to find the missing couple.”
Police said that three teams were stationed in Nongriyat, Mavasahev and Weisadong areas from 9 am to sunset. The search operation will be run to the valleys on the side of the Shillong-Sohra road.
