As the film progresses, it loses its grip and what seems refreshing in the beginning, later becomes a burden. How is the story of the film? The story revolves around Ramakant (Rajkummar Rao), who is a very stingy person and does not hesitate in taking back even the things given to him. When he asks for a toaster given at a wedding, the same toaster gets linked to a murder case. After this, Ramakant gets entangled in trying to hide it and get it back. There are many elements in the story like murder, blackmail and secrets, but all these keep repeating again and again, due to which the story seems to revolve around the same instead of moving forward. How is the acting of the star cast? Talking about acting, Rajkumar Rao tries to handle the entire film and succeeds at many places. His character, despite being irritating, seems relatable and he manages to make one laugh in some scenes. Sanya Malhotra’s role is limited and she does not get a chance to do much. Even actors like Abhishek Banerjee, Seema Pahwa and Archana Puran Singh are unable to leave an impact due to weak writing. How is the direction of the film? Talking about direction, Vivek Das Choudhary’s idea was definitely new, but there was a lack of putting it on the screen properly. The second half of the film seems stretched and the screenplay seems scattered. There is too much confusion in the climax, due to which the impact of the story is lost. Technically the cinematography is fine, but the editing and background score do not support the film. How is the music of the film? Both the music and background score are weak and do not enhance the emotional or comic moments of the film. Final Verdict: Watch the movie or not? Overall, Toaster comes with a good idea, but fails to make an impact due to weak writing and loose direction. Some parts of the film entertain, but the film fails to keep you engaged throughout. This is a film that could have been better, but that opportunity was missed.
