Ra Studio is in Powai area of Mumbai. The accused had released the video after taking the children hostage.
A hostage taker of 19 people, including 17 children, was killed in an encounter at Ra Studio in Mumbai’s Powai area on Thursday. 8 commandos of the Quick Response Team completed the operation in 35 minutes.
As soon as he entered the audition room, the accused threatened to set him on fire with a lighter. The commandos had to open fire. A bullet hit him in the chest on the right side. The injured accused died during treatment in the hospital.
Police also found an air gun and chemical from the spot. After the completion of the operation, the police took out all the children safely.

- “I am Rohit Arya. Instead of committing suicide, I have made a plan and kept some children hostage here. I don’t have many demands. I have very simple demands, moral demands and some questions. I want to talk to some people, ask them questions and if I have any questions in response to their answers, I want to ask them too, but I want these answers.
- “I don’t want anything else. I am not a terrorist, nor do I demand a lot of money, and I am not making any immoral demands. I have held the children hostage as part of a plan. If I am even slightly provoked, I will set this place (the studio) on fire. I made this plan rather than take the step of suicide. I must not be provoked, otherwise I will take the step of harming the children.”

Shiv Sena leader and former minister Deepak Kesarkar, while talking to a news channel, said that when I was the Education Minister, I myself had paid Rohit Arya through cheque.
Rohit Arya was associated with the ‘My School Beautiful School’ scheme. Rohit also went on a hunger strike outside his house.
Kesarkar further said, all procedures have to be completed for any government payment. Therefore his allegation that Rs 2 crore was not received is false. For this he should go to the department and submit the documents.
