Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Zameer has said that relations with India are improving. Musa said that the misunderstandings between the two countries have been resolved. He also admitted that there were challenges in the relations between the two countries after the formation of President Mohammad Muizzu’s government in Maldives.
Moosa said that the relations were not good after Muizzu demanded India to withdraw troops from Maldives. Moosa made this statement while talking to The Edition newspaper on Friday during his visit to Sri Lanka.
Apart from this, he also talked about strengthening relations with his partner countries in South Asia, especially India and China.

Musa Zameer visited India in May. During this he met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Muizzu went to China on his first state visit. Before this, every President of Maldives used to visit India as his first visit.

However, its date has not been decided yet. Earlier, Muizzu came to India on 9 June to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi.
India has offered economic aid to Maldives, Business Today reports. According to Indian officials, Maldives can immediately avail $400 million under the Reserve Bank of India’s currency swap program. This program provides assistance to regional countries.
After assuming the presidency of Maldives, Muizzu started implementing policies that benefited China in the country and started distancing himself from his traditional partner India. However, after the debt crisis increased, Mohammad Muizzu is once again trying to improve relations with India.
