Thousands of people around the world using Microsoft products faced outages again today (July 30). These products range from email service Outlook to the famous game Minecraft.
The company’s services were shut down worldwide 11 days ago. Down Detector, which monitors websites, said that thousands of people had complained of problems on Tuesday afternoon. After this, the company had to apologize.
The company said – experts are investigating
Microsoft tweeted on social media platform X and said, ‘We are investigating reports of problems related to Microsoft services globally. We apologize for the inconvenience. Our experts are investigating the situation so that it can be resolved as soon as possible.’

Problems in applications like Word and Excel too
Microsoft Corp said it is experiencing disruptions in some Office applications and services. The company said in the post that the problem is “affecting many Microsoft 365 services”. Microsoft 365 includes the company’s product applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
11 days ago Microsoft’s services were down for 15 hours
Earlier, Microsoft’s service was down for 15 hours due to a software update by American anti-virus company Crowdstrike. Due to this, millions of computers running on Microsoft’s operating system stopped working and started restarting automatically.
Due to this, essential services like airports, flights, trains, hospitals, banks, restaurants, digital payments, stock exchanges, TV channels and supermarkets came to a halt. The maximum impact was seen at airports. 3% or about 4,295 flights had to be cancelled worldwide.
In America alone, 1100 flights were cancelled and 1700 were delayed. Its effect started showing at 10:40 am as per Indian time. Heavy crowds were seen at major airports of the country including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore. Due to the shutdown of online services, flight boarding passes were given by hand at many airports. However, by evening many services had started becoming normal.
Due to such a widespread impact, it has become the biggest IT crisis in history. It is also being called a ‘digital pandemic’. Apart from this, the impact was also seen on the bank-stock market. Not only this, the broadcast of TV channels in Britain was also stopped. However, Apple and Linux users were not affected by this.
CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz apologizes
George Kurtz, CEO of American anti-virus company CrowdStrike, has apologized for the trouble. He said that the company has solved the problem, but it may take some time for all systems to run normally. He said in a post on X – CrowdStrike continues to work closely with all affected customers and partners to ensure that all systems are restored.
The screen of most computers running on Microsoft OS turned blue. Actually, this problem was caused by a software update provided to Microsoft Windows users by Crowdstrike. Due to this, the screen of millions of systems running on Microsoft operating system around the world turned blue and the computer started starting automatically. Essential services like airports, flights, trains, hospitals, banks, restaurants, digital payments, stock exchanges, TV channels and supermarkets stopped all over the world.
CrowdStrike’s update caused problems in Microsoft’s Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 services. After this outage, Microsoft immediately said that it was a “third party issue”. In other words – it was not its fault. Microsoft did not have any ‘Plan B’ to get rid of the problem. It kept waiting for the cyber security firm itself to fix it.
