After the video of a woman sitting in the AC coach of a train making noodles in an electric kettle went viral, the Central Railways on Saturday gave a strong reaction in this matter. Railway officials said that action will be taken soon against those involved.
According to media reports, this video recorded on November 20 was first posted on Sarita Lingayat’s Instagram handle. After this the video went viral and was viewed millions of times. Many users expressed their displeasure by tagging the railway officials and calling it a serious threat.
In the video clip, the woman is cooking noodles in a household electric kettle in the charging socket of the AC coach. She also jokingly says that she can cook anywhere. In the video, the woman is saying in Marathi that she has prepared tea for 10-15 people in the same manner.
Central Railways wrote on X- We have identified the Instagram handle from which the video was posted and will soon find the woman with the help of travel details and CCTV footage. Railways said that action will be taken against the woman under Section 147 (1) of the Railway Act.

Railway officials said that electric devices like kettle consume 1000-2000 watts of power. While the capacity of train socket usually ranges from 15 watts to 20 watts (15W-20W), which is mainly for charging small devices like mobiles and laptops.
These sockets have 110V AC current, which is lower than household 220V-240V. Overloading may cause fire in the bogie due to short-circuit. This can also affect lights, fans and AC systems. This can pose a danger to other passengers. This may disrupt the power supply and also damage the AC and other electronic ports of the train.
Central Railway appealed to the passengers to avoid such dangerous activities and requested that if they witness such incidents, they should immediately inform the authorities, so that safety in the train can be ensured.
