The Election Commission announced the date of Maharashtra Assembly elections on 15 October. Voting will be held on all 288 seats in the state in a single phase on November 20. The result will be declared on 23rd November. The major parties included in the grand alliance government in Maharashtra are BJP, Shiv Sena Shinde and NCP (Ajit).
BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting is to be held at BJP headquarters in Delhi at around 6 pm on Wednesday to discuss the names of candidates in the assembly elections.
PM Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Minister Amit Shah, Piyush Goyal, Bhupendra Yadav, Ashwini Vaishnav, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule and other CEC members will be present in this meeting.
Bawankule said- most of the seats of the party are decided Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule said- Today is the meeting of the Central Election Committee, in which our current BJP seat will be discussed. I think most of the seats of our party have been decided. First we have to decide on the existing seats and later we have to decide on the remaining seats.
He said that after losing the Lok Sabha elections, we have learned some things. We fought the elections saying that Modi ji has pledged to develop India. We kept asking for votes for a developed India and the Congress party kept lying. That’s why we could not catch their narrative in the elections. Congress created confusion among the public.
He said that in the year 2014, BJP had contested elections on 260 seats in Maharashtra. Of these, 122 seats were won. In the year 2019, 105 seats were won. BJP had emerged as the largest party in the state.

In Maharashtra, there is a government of Mahayuti i.e. Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP Ajit Pawar faction. Anti-incumbency and division of votes among six big parties will be a big challenge for Sadhna Party.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, INDIA alliance got 30 seats and NDA got 17 seats. Of these, BJP got 9, Shiv Sena got 7 and NCP got only 1 seat. BJP lost 23 seats. NDA had got 41 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In 2014 this figure was 42. That means less than half.
According to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP will be reduced to around 60 seats. In a survey of the opposition alliance, MVA i.e. Mahavikas Aghadi has been estimated to get 160 seats out of 288 seats in the state. Maratha movement is the biggest challenge for BJP. Apart from this, people have sympathy with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar after the sabotage in Shiv Sena and NCP.

- There was BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in 2019. BJP won 105 seats and Shiv Sena won 56 seats. From the alliance, NCP got 54 seats and Congress 44 seats. BJP-Shiv Sena would have easily come to power, but the alliance broke due to differences of opinion.
