A 21-year-old boy was killed by a Mercedes car in Thane, Maharashtra, resulting in his death. The deceased has been identified as Darshan Hegde. Police said on Monday that the incident occurred on the night of October 20.
The accident occurred when Darshan Hegde was returning home after buying food. A Mercedes going towards Nashik Highway hit him and the driver fled from the spot.
Later the police seized the car, but the accused driver is still absconding. He has been identified as Abhijeet Nair. Police has started the investigation of the matter.
The accident occurred near the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Thane. Police are checking CCTV footage of the area. However, several CCTV cameras in the area were reportedly not working at the time of the incident.

This is the third hit and run case in Maharashtra this year In May this year, a 17-year-old boy had hit two bike riders with his Porsche car in Pune. Both of them had died in the accident. The accused minor was the son of a big builder of the city. In another case, 24-year-old Mihir Shah had hit a woman with his BMW in Mumbai. The woman had died in the accident. Mihir Shah is the son of Shiv Sena leader.
