Cold has increased after light rain in many areas of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. Cold wave continues in Kashmir. Here the mercury has dropped several degrees below zero.
Shimla received its second snowfall of the season, leaving 3 inches of snow on the roads. Due to this, the vehicles of tourists returning from Solanganala to Atal Tunnel Rohtang started slipping on the road.
Till late night, more than 1000 vehicles got stuck in snow from the South Portal to the North Portal of Atal Tunnel. The police conducted a rescue operation to rescue them.
Due to rain and snowfall, 30 roads including two national highways have been closed in Himachal. There is a severe cold alert in Una, Hamirpur and Mandi till Thursday.
Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Hemkund Sahib in the Garhwal Himalayas and Munsiyari in Kumaon received fresh snowfall, increasing the cold in the entire state.
There is an alert of hail and rain in Rajasthan for the next 3 days. Due to this, the government has declared school holidays from 25th December to 5th January.

Himachal Pradesh: White Christmas will be celebrated in Shimla this year. Earlier in 2018, there was snowfall on Christmas. After the second snowfall of the season on Monday, up to 3 inches of snow has accumulated here.
Uttarkashi: Gangotri, one of the Chardhams, also received snowfall on Monday. The doors of the Dham were closed for 6 months on 2 November. The carriage of Mother Ganga is in Mukhimath (Mukhaba).
Odisha: It rained in some areas of the state including Bhubaneswar on Monday. Farmers in the outskirts, troubled by the paddy crop getting wet in the rain, are struggling for the safety of the remaining crop.

December 27: Hail alert in 8 states
- There is a possibility of hailstorm in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, West UP.
- There may be heavy thunderstorm rain in Saurashtra, Kutch, Telangana, Gujarat, Vidarbha.
- There is no possibility of cold wave and fog in North India and plain states.
- There will be snowfall in Himachal, due to which the temperature will drop and cold wave may occur.

Rajasthan: Fog in 6 districts, rain alert in 10 districts, holidays in schools
The weather changed in the state from Sunday night due to the activation of Western Disturbance. A yellow alert has been issued for rain in 10 districts on Tuesday and for fog in 6 districts. The mercury may fall up to 4° in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Udaipur. In view of the winter warning, there will be holidays in the state from December 25 to January 5.
Himachal Pradesh: Temperature drops due to snowfall, 30 roads including NH closed
About 2 to 3 inches of snow has been recorded in Shimla. The mercury has reached below zero in many areas of Mandi, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba. Roads in Kufri-Narkanda-Khara Patthar, Rampur Rohru Rohtang Pass, Rahninala, Madhi, Gulaba, Chandrakhani, Hamta Pass, Bijli Mahadev, Bhekhali, Manikarna Valley have been closed due to snowfall and rain.
