Meira Paibi is a major social movement and group of Meitei women.

Two children were killed in a rocket attack in Manipur on April 7. There were 3 deaths in the demonstrations. Protests have been going on since then. A complete bandh is in force from April 18 amid the unrest. Normal life is at a standstill.

Women are playing a key role in this entire movement, who are not only leading the demonstrations on the streets, but are also taking the movement forward by connecting people at the social level. These women are blocking roads and protesting during the day. Neither the police nor anyone else can come out from there. At the same time, Mashal is leading the rallies at night. Reema, who was blocking the road in Imphal West, said that every area has its own clubs and Meera Paibi groups, which are strengthening the movement by joining other women.

A protesting woman said – It is challenging to manage the household, go to the movement and worry about livelihood, all three together. Despite this, it is my moral responsibility and I am balancing everything.
