Rehabilitation of a village in Manipur after three years, return of villagers to the buffer zone
This is the first time that a Kuki-Jo village has been rehabilitated in Manipur after the displacement that started from 3 May 2023. The official return of villagers took place on Thursday in Khodang village located in the buffer zone. This village is near the border of Churachandpur, Kakching and Bishnupur districts.
This village was lying vacant since 28 May 2023. According to local people, the villagers had to flee after an alleged attack by armed Meitei group Arambai Tenggol. Most of the more than 40 houses were burnt following the violence. Only about 8 houses were left. After this the village remained deserted. Village head Jaminlian Haokip said that now people will be able to do their normal livelihood related work again.
Charter plane coming from Bengaluru to Delhi diverted to Jaipur due to heavy rain, 6 Congress leaders including Siddaramaiah were on board
The chartered plane of former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had to be diverted to Jaipur due to heavy rain in Delhi on Thursday evening. Siddaramaiah along with five other senior Congress leaders were going to Delhi from Bengaluru’s HAL airport in a chartered ‘Embraer’ plane.
But the VIP movement came to a halt due to bad weather at Indira Gandhi International Airport. After this the plane landed completely safely at Jaipur International Airport. However, the plane did not take off again for Delhi even three hours after being diverted.
Violence during Bakrid in Nuh, Haryana, 12 injured
Violent clash broke out between rival groups of two villages after Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha) prayers in Nuh district of Haryana. 12 people have been injured during this period. Police said that in both the cases old enmity and Panchayat election dispute became the reason for the fight.
Bichhaur police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. All the injured have been admitted to Punhana Community Health Centre.
