In Mumbai, a 40 -year -old person strangled his five -year -old step daughter to death and threw the body into the sea. Mumbai Police said on Tuesday that accused Imran Sheikh has been arrested.
The incident came to light when the Kolaba police officers found the body of the girl floating in the sea near Sasoon Dock in South Mumbai on Tuesday morning. An official said that the girl had gone missing from Antop Hill area of Central Mumbai.
Her half -father Imran Sheikh and mother Nazia, who had lodged a complaint with the girl’s disappearance at Antop Hill Police Station. On the basis of the complaint, a case of kidnapping was registered against an unknown person.
During the investigation, the police examined the CCTV footage installed in the Antop Hill and the surrounding areas, while the girl was last seen with her stepfather. After the body of the girl was found in the sea, the police took the stepfather into custody and started questioning him.
The official said that during interrogation, he accepted the murder of his step -daughter and throwing the body into the sea. The police suspect that the girl would have been murdered due to a dispute between the couple. The girl’s mother married a second marriage to the accused.
