Tuhin Kant Pandey, a 1987 batch Odisha cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary. The order has been issued by the Central Government on Saturday (7 November). Tuhin Kant Pandey has been the Secretary of the Invest and Public Asset Management Department. Before joining the Finance Ministry, he has worked as Principal Secretary in his home cadre Odisha. Earlier, senior IAS officer TV Somanathan was on the post of Finance Secretary. He has been given the responsibility of Cabinet Secretary.

4 crore cash and gold and silver worth 38 lakhs recovered from Purva Express train, hidden in 24 packets
The RPF conducted a special checking campaign in view of the assembly elections in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana, in which about Rs 4 crore cash was recovered from the Poorva Express train. According to sources, the RPF team of Delhi division had received information that a large amount of cash, gold and silver was being smuggled illegally in Mumbai Rajdhani and Poorva Express.
As soon as the train reached New Delhi Railway Station on Thursday, the parcel coach was checked. During this, the team found 24 suspicious packets. When the RPF investigation team checked all the packets, they found 4 crore cash, gold worth 38 lakhs and 365 kg silver in it. Income Tax and GST officials have been informed about this, who are now investigating it.
