Four warships of India and China arrived in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo on the same day. Of these, one is from India and three are from China. According to the Sri Lankan website Daily Mirror, the Indian warship and the Chinese warships have arrived in Colombo on a 3-day visit.
According to the report, Indian Navy’s warship INS Mumbai has reached Sri Lanka for the first time. The Sri Lankan Navy welcomed it. This is the eighth time this year that an Indian ship has visited Sri Lanka.
Three warships of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, He Fei, Wuzhishan and Qilianshan also arrived at Colombo Port on an official visit on Monday morning.

INS Mumbai has reached a port in Sri Lanka for the first time. It will stay here for 3 days.
INS Mumbai will participate in many programs
INS Mumbai is a 163 meter long warship with 410 crew members. This ship has arrived with the necessary parts for the Dornier reconnaissance ship. India gifted the Dornier reconnaissance ship in August 2022 to strengthen Sri Lanka’s maritime security.
INS Mumbai will participate in some events with the Sri Lankan Navy. According to reports, the crew members of the warship will also visit some tourist centers of Sri Lanka.
On August 29, INS will also participate in a ‘passage exercise’ with a Sri Lankan ship. INS Mumbai is India’s indigenous warship, which was inducted into the Indian Navy in the year 2001.
3 Chinese warships with 1473 crew members reached Sri Lanka
All three Chinese warships have arrived to participate in the exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy. The largest among them is ‘He Fei’. Its length is 144.50 meters, on which there are 267 crew members. Warship Wuzhishan is 210 meters long, on which there are 872 crew members. At the same time, Qilianshan is a 210 meter long warship, on which there are 334 crew members.
According to The Hindu Businessline, it is quite unique that the warships of both the countries arrived at Colombo Port on the same day. In fact, India has been expressing concern for a long time about the Chinese ship stopping on the Sri Lankan island.
China calls the intelligence ship a research ship
Last year, India had said that China was trying to spy on India through its research vessels. After this, Sri Lanka refused to allow Chinese ships to stop in its country in September 2023. However, Sri Lanka lifted this ban a few months ago.
China has many spy ships. Even though it says that it uses these ships for research, they have powerful military surveillance systems. Many seashores of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu come under the purview of Chinese ships arriving at Maldives and Sri Lankan ports.

The picture is of Yuan Wang 5. China has 7 such spy ships. With these it can monitor the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean. These send information to the land based commanding center.
The Chinese military operates the spy ships
The Chinese military operates these spy ships. Chinese spy ships are capable of operating throughout the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. These ships spy and send all the information to Beijing’s land-based tracking stations. China tracks the launch of satellites, rockets and intercontinental ballistic missiles through the Yuan Wang class ship.
According to the US Defense Department report, this ship is operated by the Strategic Support Force (SSF) of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). SSF is a theater command level organization. It helps PLA in space, cyber, electronic, information, communication and psychological warfare missions.
China’s spy ships are powerful tracking ships. These ships start their movement when India or any other country is conducting missile tests. The ship is fitted with high-tech eavesdropping equipment. With this, it can listen to conversations taking place 1,000 km away.
The missile tracking ship is equipped with an electronic system made of radar and antenna. This system tracks the missile coming in its range and sends its information to the air defense system. That is, information about the missile is received before it comes in the range of the air defense system and the attack can be foiled.
