What happened in Bangladesh before Hasina reached India? How Sheikh Hasina, who was in power for 15 years, came to India secretly after resigning, the story of 24 hours…
The chiefs of the three armies reached the residence of Bangladesh PM…
On the morning of 5 August, 400 protesters were gathered on the streets of Bangladesh. They were marching towards the residence of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power at any cost.
According to the New York Times, seeing the deteriorating situation in the country, the heads of the three armies and the police chief reached the PM residence to meet Sheikh Hasina. At this time her sister Sheikh Rehana was also present there. Hasina ordered the chief of the security forces to stop the protesters at all costs. However, she said that this was impossible.
Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman said that people are reaching Dhaka from all over the country. Some people have reached close to the Prime Minister’s residence. The only way to save the Prime Minister now is to kill people, or else a genocide will have to be carried out. Even after that, there is no guarantee that the protesters will be brought under control.

Haseena agreed to resign after talking to her son over the phone.
Sensing the concerns of the army chiefs, Rehana asked to speak to Hasina in private. When they returned 20 minutes later, Hasina was silent. However, she was still adamant on controlling the protesters. Eventually, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman called Hasina’s son Wazed Joy, who lives in the US.
The Army Chief asked Wazed to convince Hasina. He gave the phone to the Prime Minister. After this, Hasina remained silent for the next few minutes. She was listening to her son. Finally, she nodded ‘yes’ and hung up the phone. Hasina agreed to leave Bangladesh at her son’s behest, although she did not want to do so.

Just 1 hour to leave Bangladesh
Seeing the situation worsening in the country, the Army Chief estimated that Hasina had less than 1 hour to leave Bangladesh. At around 1 pm, Hasina came down to her quarters with her sister. Rehana had a big photo frame in her hand.
Bangladesh officials were preparing for Hasina’s last address to the nation before she leaves. Meanwhile, there was some confusion. The truck carrying the live broadcast went to the Army Chief’s headquarters instead of the PM’s residence.
This was the biggest sign of change of power in Bangladesh. Hasina was taken from the PM residence in a car in the presence of her staff. About 12 vehicles were included in Hasina’s convoy for her security. She tried to leave the main gate of the residence.
When they did not succeed, they went out through another route. However, there was a crowd of protesters here too.

Hasina left the PM residence with a convoy of 12 vehicles.
Hasina reached the airfield amid armored vehicles
The team present in Hasina’s security appealed for help. After this, army’s armored vehicles reached there. Somehow, Hasina was taken out from there by stopping the crowd. She was taken directly to a helipad. From here, Hasina and her sister reached the airfield via helicopter. Then both of them were taken out of Bangladesh by boarding a military aircraft.
On the other hand, Army Chief Waqar held an emergency meeting with opposition parties after Hasina left the country. Then he addressed the public and said, “Sheikh Hasina has resigned. We will form an interim government, we will now take care of the country. Those who have been killed in the movement will be given justice.”
Hasina’s C-130 transport aircraft landed at Ghaziabad’s Hindon airbase at around 6 pm on August 5. Here she was welcomed by India’s NSA Ajit Doval. Hasina has been in India for the last 2 days. Information about how long she will stay here and where she will go after India is not known.
