In October 2021, the CBI registered a case of cheating against Surendra Patwa and his wife. The case was registered on a complaint received from Indore branch of Bank of Baroda. The Patwa family is accused of disturbing the transaction related to the bank. After which a case was registered in other sections including fraud.

Please tell that Surendra Patwa is the nephew of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Sundarlal Patwa. He is a senior BJP leader. He is an MLA from Bhojpur assembly seat in Raisen district. He has also been the Minister of Tourism in the Shivraj government.

Fake accounts were opened in different banks During the investigation of suspected bank accounts on the instructions of the Reserve Bank, fake accounts were found in the name of Surendra Patwa, Vijay Soni and Rajiv Soni in other banks including SBI. The CBI had registered an FIR in the case. Others, including Patwa, had filed a petition in the High Court against FIR, which was canceled by the High Court on 25 July 2023.
