Britain’s wildcard Arthur Ferry caused an upset at Wimbledon 2026 and reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam for the first time. The 114th-ranked Ferry defeated 9th seed Flavio Coboli of Italy 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.

The 23-year-old Ferry has become only the second wildcard player to reach the Wimbledon men’s singles semi-finals. Before him, Goran Ivanisevic had achieved this feat in 2001. He also won the title the same year.

Ferry will face French Open champion and second seed Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

Defeat Koboli in straight sets

In the match played on the center court, Ferry played aggressively from the beginning. He won the first set 6-4. After this, he won the tie-break of the second set 7-4. Then won the match by defeating 6-0 in the third set. This was the first Grand Slam quarterfinal of Ferry’s career.

Ferry beats Koboli for the second time this year

This is the second time in 2026 that Arthur Ferry has defeated Flavio Coboli in a Grand Slam. Earlier, he had defeated Koboli 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of Australian Open. Koboli did not face Ferri at the French Open, where he reached the final of the French Open.

Fifth Briton to reach Wimbledon semi-finals

Ferry became the fifth British player in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon men’s singles semi-finals. Before him, Andy Murray (7 times), Tim Henman (4 times), Roger Taylor (2 times) and Cameron Norrie (1 time) had reached the semi-finals once.

Ferry said- I can’t believe it

After the match Ferry said- Everything is getting better with every match. I still can’t believe that I’m in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. He said that he was very nervous before the match, but maintained confidence in himself till the end.
