The search is on for 31-year-old tech professional Advait Upadhyay, who went missing during a solo trek on Shivagange Hill in Bengaluru Rural. Advaita had reached Shivagange Hill on August 7 and after that there was no trace of him. Now during the search operation, an object resembling a human body has been seen among the dense bushes using the drone. However, it has not been confirmed yet that this object is Advaita’s dead body.
Advait is an IIT alumnus and cyber security professional. He works in a finance firm in Whitefield and lives in Kadugodi. According to the police, in the CCTV footage, he was seen reaching Shivagange around 7:30 am on August 7 and starting the trek. He was supposed to return by noon, but he did not return.
Advait had hired a motorcycle to go to Shivagange. His motorcycle was later found parked at the foot of the hill, but there was no trace of Advait there. Police have traced the last signal of his mobile phone to Kuduru area of Kunigal Road. It has been told that this place is different from the normal trekking route of Shivagange.
After this Advait’s mobile phone got switched off. After the mobile was switched off, police and rescue agencies intensified their search. Meanwhile, the drone teams saw an object that looked like a human body in the dense bushes below the dangerous Shantala Drop. Shantala Drop is a very steep and difficult part of the hill, where it is not easy to reach.
After this information received from the drone, it is feared that Advait may have been a victim of some accident or may have fallen from the hill. However, his identity has not been confirmed yet. Due to dense forest and difficult terrain, the rescue team has not been able to reach the exact place where the drone has seen this object.
Around 100 employees of Police, NDRF, SDRF and Forest Department are engaged in the operation to search for Advaita. Ground teams have also been deployed along with many drone teams. Continuous search operations are being conducted in Shivagange Hill, Shantala Drop and surrounding areas. The main objective of the teams is to detect Advaita and confirm the actual location of the object as seen from the drone.
Meanwhile, the police is also investigating Advait’s activities before his disappearance. His digital activity is also being taken into consideration in the investigation. Police are investigating the browsing history of his laptop, which includes links to Shivagange, Shantala Drop and Bengaluru It is said that searches related to places related to suicide have surfaced around.
However, the police have not yet drawn any conclusions on the basis of these searches. The investigating agencies have also not established that Advait had intended to harm himself. At present, the police’s focus is on locating Advait and confirming the identity of the object seen from the drone.
