A video of Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this, prisoners are seen playing, singing and dancing inside the barrack. These prisoners are seen using plates and mugs as musical instruments while raising slogans of party all night. Drinking alcohol openly. Enjoying the tasting.

The place seen in the video going viral is being said to be Barrack 1/3B of the jail. Earlier, a video that went viral was said to be from the year 2023, but this new video is reportedly from just a week ago. The surprising thing is that Kannada actor Darshan and his friend actress Pavitra Gaur, arrested in the Renukaswamy murder case, are also lodged in the same jail.

According to sources, after this incident came to light, the jail administration immediately ordered an investigation on Saturday. Investigation is being done to find out how despite such strict security arrangements, facilities like phones, TV and liquor have reached the prisoners. In this video, many prisoners are seen watching TV and using Android phones inside the barrack.

It is being told that some prisoners also have expensive mobile phones and electronic gadgets. In a video, Umesh Reddy, convicted in rape and murder cases, was seen using an Android phone. A television set was also found installed in his barrack. Jail authorities have started an internal investigation to find out the authenticity of these videos.

Only after the investigation of this case is completed, it will be clear which jail personnel were involved in providing this facility. On this matter, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said, “When such incidents had happened earlier also, we had suspended officers and taken strict action. Earlier also, action has been taken against officers found guilty in Parappana Agrahara jail.”

He further said, “Once again I have handed over the responsibility of investigation to Police Commissioner B. Dayanand. He was on leave, but I have spoken to him and have given instructions to submit the report. Such things will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If this continues, it can no longer be called a jail. I will soon call a meeting of police officers and raise the issue seriously.”

He said, “I have asked for a detailed report. If the report is not satisfactory, a new committee will be formed. If the police report does not clarify whose negligence it is, then a separate investigation will be conducted. No prisoner, be it a terrorist or anyone else, should have a phone. Actor Darshan had to approach the court just for a pillow in jail.”

The state government has expressed strong displeasure over the officials giving VVIP treatment in Parappana Agrahara Jail. But a few hours later, another new video surfaced, in which prisoners were seen dancing and partying with alcohol and snacks. The opposition in Karnataka is already accusing the government of being soft. These videos have created a stir.
